A participant in my online course Google Mapping for Communicators created a virtual tour using Google Earth, and it provides for a good example of how Google Earth can be used as a storytelling tool.
About the course: Google Mapping for Communicators is a free online course offered by this blog. This course trains participants on the use of Google Fusion Tables map, Google Maps Engine and Google Earth.
About the assignments: Course participants are asked to produce an interactive heat map using Fusion Tables, a rich-media map with photos and videos using Maps Engine, and a virtual tour using Google Earth.
About this virtual tour: Caddie Brain, an online reporter with Australian Broadcast Corporation, created a tour of the 223-kilometre-long Larapinta Trail along the West MacDonnell Ranges in Central Australia. Caddie edited the tour video with captions, selected photos and a music track.
